How Easy it Is to Get Started with a New Website
According to third-angle.com Building a website has become so easy that this guide will tell you pretty much everything you need to know about how to do it. I’m Tyler, and I’ve been building websites for about 15 years. I don’t use these resources for my professional work, but I wanted to create a resource for people who might have missed the boat on creating a website.
There are a lot of older guides out there, but most of them won’t be needed. As long as you’re going to read everything I mention, you can get from starting your website to promoting it by the end of this very short guide.
The Basics: Grabbing Your Name and Hosting Your Domain
If this site is going to be at all commercial, you need to pick a good name. It won’t be easy, as there are billions of registered words and phrases out there. Don’t stop brainstorming until you think of something good, and then take it over to Namecheap.com. Sign up for an account, and it will be very easy to register a name. Just follow the instructions you’re given on namecheap until you own your name. They have a lot of guides to help you.
There are a lot of other hosting companies out there, like GoDaddy for example, but don’t worry about them. This is a simple guide so we’re just going to ask Namecheap to host the name we just bought from them. You can find and activate the hosting functions from within your account. You’re smart enough to find that and get a cheap hosting plan underway.
The Beginning: Going Live with WP
Now that you’ve got your site, you need to go over to WordPress.com. This can get a bit complicated, but once again, they provide a lot of guides that can help you get you to the next section. If you want to rush it just to see what it’s like you can probably figure it all out in less than an hour by reviewing their basic guides. If it looks daunting, I PROMISE YOU, you’re just going to be clicking boxes that say “OK”, and pasting in information from your namecheap account on the other tab. You don’t have to code a thing.
Advanced: Promoting Your Website
You’re going to want to take a few weeks to play around with your website. Get to know all the tools and what they do, and play around with looks until you find one that’s true to you. If you start to develop an audience in that time, think about promotion. SEO companies like Loganix help move sites up search engine results so you can get more attention.
